Canal+ Drops First Trailer for "A Prophet"
"A Prophet" is an eight-episode Canal+ original series adapted from Jacques Audiard's 2009 film, which earned an Academy Award nomination.
In Audiard's original film, Malik El Djebena is a young man of Algerian descent entering the French prison system.
In the new series, Malik is written as a teenager of Comorian origin in Marseille who is incarcerated and drawn into the criminal hierarchies inside and around Baumettes prison.
Mamadou Sidibé makes his screen debut in the lead role, alongside Sami Bouajila, Ouassini Embarek, Matthieu Lucci, Nailia Harzoune, Kofs (Foued Nabba), and Moussa Maaskri.
Directed by Enrico Maria Artale and written by Abdel Raouf Dafri and Nicolas Peufaillit, the eight-part drama filmed in Marseille and Puglia entered production in 2023 and premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in 2025.
