Akwaaba Magic, the Ghanaian entertainment channel operated by MultiChoice Ghana, celebrated its 5th anniversary on March 3, 2026, at the company's head office in Accra, bringing together actors, directors, producers, technical crew, and emerging talent from Ghana's television and film production sector.

The channel first launched on March 8, 2021, during the COVID-19 period with the goal of broadcasting Ghanaian-produced television content on DStv and GOtv.

According to channel head Nosisa Doe, the channel has produced 621 episodes of drama series, 268 episodes of reality programming, 32 films, and 1,075 episodes of telenovelas over five years.

Programming includes productions in Twi, Ga, Ewe, Fante, and other Ghanaian languages, which the channel positions as part of its effort to keep Ghanaian storytelling rooted in local languages and cultural contexts.

Officials from the National Film Authority of Ghana (NFA), including Deputy Executive Secretary James Gardiner, credited the channel with supporting production activity and creating jobs by providing a consistent broadcast outlet for local productions and partnerships with Ghanaian production companies and technical crews.

Anniversary activities run March 8–14, 2026, including an all-women panel discussion on women in production (March 8), followed by the on-air premiere of a new title, "Bediatuo"; a film and television production masterclass (March 9); Akwaaba Movies screenings (March 10); and a closing thanksgiving service and reception on March 14 at the MCG Lounge.
