CANEX Creations Inc. is screening a slate of African works in progress for buyers at TIFF's inaugural market (September 10–16), where it serves as an official partner.
The lineup includes Editi Effiong's sequel to his Netflix hit "Black Book," the fiction feature debut of Rotterdam-winning filmmaker Cyrielle Raingou ("Le Spectre de Boko Haram"), and Nosarieme Garrick's documentary "Last Weekend in October," set during Lagos Fashion Week, screening September 12 at TIFF Lightbox Cinema 7.
CANEX will also host a buyers screening of "Muganga – The One Who Treats," a drama inspired by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Denis Mukwege, directed by Marie-Hélène Roux and co-produced by Angelina Jolie, on September 11, followed by a conversation with Mukwege, actors David Oyelowo and Danai Gurira, moderated by Afua Hirsch.
The 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) runs 10–20 September 2026 in Toronto.
