Congolese filmmaker Dieudo Hamadi will world premiere his television series “Milimo” at the 32nd CINEMANIA Francophone Film Festival, taking place 2–15 November 2026 in Montréal, Canada.
The supernatural drama comprises six 52-minute episodes and was made for CANAL+. It will screen as part of CINEMANIA’s inaugural Journées de la série francophone, a new program devoted to French-language television and streaming series.
Set in Kinshasa, the official synopsis for “Milimo” reads: “In a Kinshasa haunted by the invisible presence of the dead and the ever-present poetry of wandering souls, Rita, Stéphane and Syro try to discover the circumstances of their deaths.”
CINEMANIA has selected 16 series, including world and North American premieres from Francophone markets.
Hamadi directed, wrote and produced the series. The production partners are Kiripifilms in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Luchafilms in France, Plan A in Côte d’Ivoire and CANAL+ International. France’s Accusés de Productions and Switzerland’s Climage are credited as co-producers.
“Milimo” extends Hamadi’s work beyond documentary cinema. His films include “Downstream to Kinshasa,” selected by the Cannes Film Festival in 2020, and he served on the Cannes Film Festival’s main Competition jury in May 2025.
