Click any event and watch it land across the continent. Showmax's closure touched 44 markets. The Canal+ × Netflix Francophone bundle: 24. Starlink's African expansion: 25 and counting.
A few things become clearer when you see it all mapped at once.
- Francophone Africa is net positive this period — more launches than exits. Anglophone sub-Saharan Africa is not.
- South Africa has the most activity of any single market, and most of it is externally-led.
- Nigeria is active and contested.
- Much of East Africa sits outside most of this, except for the Showmax shutdown.
