Angèle Diabang and Kismath Baguiri's "Lakantane, la méduse" is continuing its international run with screenings at the 42nd Festival international de cinéma Vues d'Afrique in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The Senegal-Benin series began airing on Canal+ Pop, a Canal+ Afrique television channel dedicated mainly to series and entertainment programming, on May 18, 2025, and later screened in competition at the Festival de la Fiction in La Rochelle, France, in September 2025, where it was presented as a European premiere.

Now it heads to Montreal for two festival screenings: Sunday, April 5, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Cinémathèque québécoise, and Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 8:15 p.m. at UQAM.

Set in Guet Ndar, the historic fishing district on the island of Saint-Louis in northern Senegal, the series follows Kader Youm, a 24-year-old fisherman who faces a battle over land, sea, and power as outside investors try to turn the area into a resort zone while coastal erosion and environmental damage intensify. In the middle of that struggle, he falls in love with Marie Anta, the daughter of his adversary.
