Cameroon's interministerial committee reviewing the country's legal framework for film activities held two days of working sessions in Mbankomo on August 17–18, part of "Cinelab: Igniting Digital Innovation and Policy Reform in the Film Industry in Cameroon," funded by South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Organized by Cameroon's Ministry of Arts and Culture with UNESCO's Regional Office for Central Africa, the sessions brought together sectoral administrations, professionals, and sector experts to review and refine a draft bill, producing recommendations ahead of further legislative stages.
South Korea's engagement with African screen industries has grown since the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit, including $284.1 million toward Kenya's Konza Digital Media City, a dedicated African Film Festival at Busan's Cinema Center, and a new Seoul-based residency program for African filmmakers, whose first fellow is Nigerian director C.J. Obasi ("Mami Wata"), backed by American actor/producer Morgan Freeman and Lori McCreary's Revelations Entertainment.
