Trailer premiere: "Mata" — a French espionage thriller directed and written by Rachel Lang — is scheduled for theatrical release in France on May 27, 2026, with distribution handled by Warner Bros. France.
The film stars Eye Haïdara in the title role, alongside Joséphine Japy, Raphaël Personnaz, Hakim Jemili, Chloé Jouannet, Alexander Kuznetsov, and Mélanie Laurent.
The story follows Mata, a French intelligence agent seriously injured during a covert operation in Niger, West Africa, where her partner is captured. After returning to France, she volunteers for a counter-espionage assignment in the French Alps that she believes connects directly to the earlier mission. Acting outside official channels, she pursues answers her superiors withhold, placing her career and safety at risk.
Warner Bros. France has released a trailer for the upcoming movie.
Haïdara was recently named Mistress of Ceremonies and will host the opening and closing events of the 79th Cannes Film Festival set for May 12–23.
